Registering to vote can improve your credit rating
April 10th, 2010
Quoted from Guardian:
With the date confirmed for 6 May, Britain’s credit reference agencies are urging people to ensure they are registered to vote. Not only can you have your say on who runs the country, but being on the electoral roll improves your credit status. In fact, if you are not on it, you may find it more difficult to get a loan, loan, credit card or insurance.
Wow. I hadn’t quite realised that registering to vote could make such a big difference to one’s credit rating. Although I’ve never registered or voted this is certainly making me reconsider.
Best UK ISA accounts
April 5th, 2010
Recently I was looking into ISA accounts in the UK out of interest. Although I’ve used my allowance for the 2009 tax year I was interested to know where interest rates might stand in the next tax year and what my options were in terms of accounts. Here’s what I found. These are the best four ISA accounts in the UK in terms of interest rate percentage.
- Santander Flexible ISA (3.20%)
- Barclays Golden ISA Issue 2 (3.10%)
- Nationwide Champion ISA (2.80%)
- Nationwide e-ISA (2.75%)
Of course when the new tax year arrives tomorrow the rates and accounts may have changed but it’s good to see that rates are considerably better than last year. If you want even higher rates you may want to consider Fixed Rate ISA Bonds but these will not allow access to your money within that time period.
